On December 3rd, three enrichment students volunteered their time to sell cookbooks at the Sunday services. They did SUCH a wonderful job and we ended up making over $300 for our cause!
We have been studying Japan for about 1-2 hours each Thursday. We are studying writing, dialogue, dress, culture, and food. Here are some photos from our adventures:
The 4th and 5th grade enrichment had fun dissecting an owl pellet and trying to determine what animal the owl had consumed. It was a little gross but the students rose to the challenge and enjoyed being zoologists.
The 4th and 5th graders absolutely loved their trip to the radio station. I think they learned quite a bit about the business of running a station and how radio works. They recorded an advertisement for our cookbook sales and, hopefully, their voices will be around the holidays as they all recorded quick radio station identification clips.
We have been studying a little bit about Japan during the month of November/December. The kids have practiced writing, conversation, art, dress, and sushi-making. We will be heading to The Sushi House next week. Here are some photos of our Japanese adventures:
During the fall, we did a few fall projects including some art and dissecting some owl pellets. The kids were pretty amazed at the uncovering bones and skulls that were fully intact. They used a chart to try and identify what animal had been the source of food for that particular owl. Here are some photos of our adventures:
Sorry for the delay in posting some pictures from our latest enrichment adventures! In November, we took a trip to the radio station. The kids learned quite a bit about the business of radio. They all had a chance to get recorded and we will hopefully get you a sound byte of that recording soon!
